Lifesave is an emergency air medical transport service specializing in critical care transport and scene responses. The service serves patients throughout Southwest Kansas, Southeast Colorado, and the Oklahoma panhandle. Lifesave is a physician-driven, clinically focused program whose emphasis is on providing rapid access to emergent care to physicians and their patients in rural areas. The service is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week from a landing site at Western Plains.
The new Bell L-4 helicopter is large enough to carry an intra aortic balloon pump. This heart pump can improve the blood flow to the heart while the patient is rushed to surgery or to receive angioplasty. It can make the difference between life and death during flights.
